The Basic Fire-fighting Training Course run by the RFS is only three or four evenings and one weekend, and it’s all free! You can learn First Aid or Off -Road Four Wheel Driving as well. Your new skills could save your family’s lives. If you are over 16 you are welcome to join us.

Our brigade also runs regular short training sessions to keep existing members up-to-speed with equipment. Topics covered include operating pumps and hoses, fire-truck and equipment familiarisation, structural fires, first aid and radio communications. We discuss recent fires we attended, prepare for hazard reductions, plan community education, maintain equipment and of course, socialise.

Darrell shows us how there is more oxygen close to the nozzle in case you are caught in thick smoke.
